It was important for us to get this started quickly a get momentum, so naturally most of how we've been using our platforms has been developed ad-hoc. But the medium is the message, right? Now we've got enough time to take a step back and see if maybe we missed something, can use a different tool or use it differently from how we've been doing.
I'm going to reply to this thread with my own opinions, but first lets do a quick rundown that I plan to keep updated based on how we use them:
External Platforms
Youtube
Most important platform, where our Project's production output lives. Currently only used to post our videos.
Twitter
Aside from the actual videos it's probably how the Project can best interact with the world outside. Not only does it allows us to easily communicate with people that follow us there but we can also join conversations, wielding our image to increase our reach. For example, just recently we've got someone join the Discord after we replied to someone else in a thread Mike started.
Reddit Profile
Only used thrice. Posting auditions, replying to feedback and posting the comment response video on /r/pbsideachannel
Not sure how this could be used otherwise. Not sure how useful a profile would be, as per reddit rules we're supposed to be sharing videos using our own accounts.
Internal Platforms
Discord
Our main platform. Regardless of what we're doing, we're probably talking about it on Discord. Be it discussing ideas and other stuff related to our Project's production cycle, chatting with the community through the offtopic channels, gaming, and even the occasional bout of out of sync music sessions through discord's voice.
If Idea Project was a village Discord would probably be our local plaza, a lot happens there but given it's fluidity we might lose interesting stuff because the text was scrolled.
Google Suite
Docs has been widely used to store ideas and write things fluidly as a group, which it's amazing for. Sheets are mostly used to keep contact information/etc organized. Drive is used to store those files plus sources and other stuff for the production side the Project.
Free Forums
It's more permanent than discord, boards make it more structured and easier to find and see information. It is used similarly to discord, with a mix from Project to Community boards, but it's clunky. The interface is weird for people not familiar to it, as interfaces have changed quite a bit since they were first introduced. People have told me that they're not sure how quoting works or how they're supposed to use it.
Now what? What do I do with all that, vinicio? Well, now we think. Together. Do you think we could do something better? What do you think about how we use those platforms? 'm going to give my opinion below but, please share your thoughts!
