Recently, facebook opened up a chatbot API allowing delevopers to create virtual assistants to help users shop, get the weather, horoscopes. Whatever. A trend in these chatbots has been Anxiety and Depression relief. Woebot and Pocketcoach are two of them, and there are paid services like TalkSpace that fill a similar role. They do not claim to replace conventional therapy sessions, but may act as a low-effort complement. How can a robot possibly be helpful for such human ailments? This could be tied into AI or some other topic on the boards. It's probably not deep enough to stand alone. SCIENCE!: mental.jmir.org/2017/2/e19/

Fun fact, the first chatbot, ELIZA ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA), was designed to mimic psychological therapy. It was developed in 1964, so I'm not sure this trend is "new."
